When we talk about affordability, most people think about groceries, gas, or housing. But one of the biggest long-term drivers of affordability in our communities is something we don’t always connect right away—our schools.
Strong schools aren’t just about education—they’re about opportunity.
When we invest in our children, we give them the skills they need to succeed right here at home. That means more local talent, more innovation, and more families who can build a future without having to leave Montana to find it.
But when schools struggle, families pay the price.
Parents take on extra costs—tutoring, childcare, or even relocating. Businesses struggle to find skilled workers. Communities lose young people who feel they have no choice but to move away.
That’s not just an education issue—it’s an affordability issue.
We need to focus on:
• Practical skills training and career pathways
• Supporting teachers so we can attract and retain the best
• Investing in facilities that prepare students for modern careers
If we get this right, we reduce costs for families—not just today, but for generations.
Because when our kids succeed, our communities become more affordable for everyone.
