Better Jobs = Lower Costs for Montana Families

Affordability isn’t just about cutting costs—it’s about increasing opportunity.

Right now, too many hardworking Montanans are feeling squeezed. Prices are rising, but wages aren’t keeping pace. Families are doing everything right—and still struggling to get ahead.

That tells us something important:

We don’t just have a cost problem—we have an income problem.

The solution? Stronger industry and better jobs.

When we attract and grow industries that provide:

• Competitive wages

• Reliable benefits

• Long-term stability

—we give families the ability to actually keep up with the cost of living.

This is especially critical in rural areas, where opportunities can be limited and options are few.

We should be focused on:

• Supporting local businesses so they can grow and hire

• Bringing in industries that align with Montana values and workforce

• Expanding job training so workers can step into higher-paying roles

When people earn more, they rely less on assistance, they spend more in their communities, and they build stronger local economies.

That’s how we make affordability real—not by lowering expectations, but by raising opportunity.
